Following the Newcastle draw there has been a lot of discussion surrounding Aaron Ramsdale’s play. Many people are quick to call him “overrated”. This term is completely
wrong and outrageous when we take a look at his stats and contributions.
2021/22 season/ Arteta got his man in Ramsdale, the 30 million pound fee had many Arsenal and football fans questioning the deal. Ramsdale was quick to silent all of the critics, posting outstanding numbers and helping bail out an improving Arsenal back line. The performances Ramsdale had put in the early stages of the season was impressive to say the least, towards the end of the season Ramsdale did suffer from a few rough patches and games. Despite the few rough performances Ramsdale was still able to keep 12 clean sheets which was ranked 5th best in the league.
This season Ramsdale has been nothing short of great, with a strong back line Ramsdale hasn’t had much to do,but when he is called upon he gets the job done. With a save percentage of 67% and 8 clean sheets in only 17 matches it is safe to say that Ramsdale is the real deal. Arsenal fans have developed a lot of trust in Ramsdale which they haven’t had in a goal keeper for a long time.
The fact that people are going on about Ramsdale being an “overrated” number 1 is shocking and disgraceful when we take a dive into his numbers. Ramsdale has not only shown that he is one of the best goalkeepers in the premier league but his play tell us that he is one of the best in the world, while only being 24 years old.
